https://jphospitalynr.com/ – Several countries around the world have agreed to switch from using conventional vehicles to electric vehicles. Likewise, Indonesia has in recent years begun to move towards electric vehicles. Apart from reducing carbon emissions and being environmentally friendly, electric cars are also considered to have several advantages over conventional fuel-based cars. One of the advantages of using an electric car is related to charging costs.
For beginners, electric cars are not yet a special option when they want to own a vehicle. In particular, remember that the price gap between electric cars and conservative cars is quite large and the limited availability of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU). As the name suggests, electric vehicles are vehicles whose power source comes from electric power. The energy charging process is carried out using an electricity source and a battery that can be recharged. For the price of electric motorbike units, currently prices vary starting from IDR 13 million. Meanwhile, the price of an electric car is priced at IDR 250 million to IDR 2 billion.
Benefits of Using an Electric Car
1. The Silent Voice
One of the advantages you can get when switching to an electric car is a quieter and more comfortable driving experience.
The sound of the engine running in an electric car tends to be quieter than in a conventional car. Generally when you start the car you hear the sound of the engine which is sometimes quite annoying. This happens exclusively to cars that are old and rarely serviced.
2. Reduce emissions
The next advantage of electric vehicles is the reduction in emissions due to the oil-fueled combustion process. So, you can produce less pollutants every day. This is of course good news for environmental problems in Indonesia which have recently become increasingly chronic, as shown by the worsening air quality in Jakarta.
3. Save taxes
Another advantage of using electric cars in Indonesia is that they are more tax efficient compared to conservative vehicles. The Indonesian government continues to apply PPnBM stimulants which are measured based on the emission content of vehicles. Hybrid and electric vehicles receive PPnBM tax incentives because they use low fuel and emissions. This is in accordance with PP No.74 of 2021 which states that the PPnBM sales tax for electric vehicles is 15%
4. Refueling is easier
Conservative vehicles of course have to refuel at gas stations. At certain times, gas stations will be busy and you have to line up to get fuel. With an electric vehicle, you don’t have to keep going to the gas station to charge. You can charge it in your own home. Apart from being more cost-effective, this also saves more time.
Disadvantages of Electric Vehicles
1. Achievements are limited
It turns out that the achievements of electric cars or motorbikes can still be said to be limited when compared to vehicles that run on oil fuel. With a full charge, you can only cover a distance of 96,000 to 130,000 km. This is different from vehicles running on oil which can reach more than 480,000 km on a full tank of petrol.
2. Battery renewal costs are expensive
If vehicles running on oil require expensive maintenance costs, especially because they have to change the oil regularly, electric vehicles can dig deep into their pockets when the battery is damaged.
3. Charging the battery takes quite a long time
Another thing that electric vehicle users need to take into account is the fairly long battery charging time. Estimated time starts from 30 minutes (for fast charging up to 80%) to 8 hours (for normal charging).
